In order to support the president’s transformation agenda (Agricultural
Transformation Program)in the area of food security in Nigeria, the Ovia North
East L.G.A the executives of the union after successfully acquiring a land
space of about 100 Hectares of farmland in the local government area, has
concluded plans to make sure all affiliate farmers in the L.G.A pack their bags
and bagages in order to relocate to the
proposed farmers co-operative community farm, situated in Okokhuo community in
O.N.E.L.G. Area, of Edo State.
The possible hindrances the farmers may face along the line is
financial hiccup. To overcome this intending and possible food shortage approaching
In the country, government at all levels should hasten up and make agricultural
GRANT available for all farmers that still have fertile land at which to
cultivate foodstuffs for the people in the country. This is going to be
possible because, all the farmers in the
council area will collectively as a group join together to develop this farm.
Which is expected to produce all kinds of agricultural produce like:-
- Cultivation of cassava
- Setting up of plantain plantation
- Cocoyam farm
- Maize, Melon and Water melon farm.
- Pepper and tomatoes farm
- Yam. Especially the local yellow yam
- The setting up of a processing plant in the farm to process the produce to add value
